CBRE Captures 55% of India's Investment Sales Market

CBRE was the top-ranked firm for commercial real estate investment sales in India during the first half of 2026, according to MSCI Real Assets, which credited the firm with a 55% market share across all property types tracked in the country. That figure covers more than half of all investment sales activity MSCI Real Assets tracked in India over the period.

Full Control of Two Asset Classes

Beyond its overall share, CBRE held the top spot in two of India's most active segments: development sites, where it captured 77% of market share, and apartment or residential assets, where its share reached 100%. Anshuman Magazine, the firm's Chairman and CEO for India, South-East Asia, Middle East and Africa, said commanding more than half the investment sales market signals the confidence investors continue to place in CBRE, and that the firm expects the momentum to continue through the second half of 2026.

A Company-Issued Ranking, Not Independent Analysis

It's worth being direct about what this story actually is. Both source articles reproduce the same press release, distributed through NewsVoir and PTI's wire feed, and ANI's own page carries an explicit advertorial disclaimer stating it isn't responsible for the release's content. The underlying market-share data comes from MSCI Real Assets, a third-party research provider, but the framing, the choice of which figures to lead with, and the quote all come directly from CBRE promoting its own performance. That doesn't make the MSCI-sourced numbers false, but it does mean this reads closer to a company announcement than independent reporting.

CBRE's Global and Asia-Pacific Numbers Add Context

The release also states that CBRE retained the No. 1 position globally for commercial real estate investment sales with a 23% market share, and ranked No. 1 in Asia Pacific with a 33% share, a lead the release describes as 1,100 basis points over its nearest competitor. Beyond India, the firm says it held the top spot in Australia, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, New Zealand and Thailand for the same period.

CBRE has claimed the top spot in India's MSCI Real Assets rankings in multiple prior years as well, including 2022 and 2024, according to CBRE's own past releases, so this H1 2026 result continues a pattern the firm has reported consistently rather than marking a new or unusual development.
