ED Questions Seven Senior GMADA Officials as Mohali Real Estate Probe Widens

Seven Named Officials, One Building, Two Days of Searches

The Enforcement Directorate's search operation at Greater Mohali Area Development Authority headquarters, which began Tuesday and ran into a second day, brought in seven senior officials for questioning: Housing Secretary Vikas Garg, Chief Administrator Sandeep Rishi, Land Acquisition Collector Rohit Jindal, Estate Officer Aman Gupta, Additional Chief Administrators Amarinder Singh Malhi and Rakesh Popli, and Chief Engineer Ajay Garg. At least three floors of the GMADA building were sealed, and officials' mobile phones and office computers were taken into custody, according to PTC News and The Tribune.

What the ED Says It's Looking For

The agency is examining land allotments, auctioned properties, development approvals, and what multiple outlets describe as crores of rupees in waived External Development Charges and interest dues owed by private developers. The420.in specifically frames this as a ₹150 crore Change of Land Use probe, while PTC News cites a ₹100 crore dues-waiver figure, two different rupee amounts describing what may be overlapping but distinct allegations rather than a single confirmed figure.

Suntec City's Cancelled Licence Sits at the Center

The probe traces back to Suntec City, a 108.58-acre project whose development licence GMADA cancelled in July 2024 after its promoter failed to submit original landowner consent documents, per Punjab RERA's own records. The ED arrested Suntec City promoter Ajay Sehgal in May 2026. The agency has also sought records tied to Altus Space Builders and, per UNI, Tirupati Infraprojects Pvt Ltd, indicating the probe now extends beyond Suntec City alone.
