Suraksha Group Commits ₹3,000 Crore to Finish Jaypee Infratech's Stalled Homes by September 2028

What Was Announced

Jaypee Infratech, now controlled by Suraksha Group, said at a Noida press conference on Monday that it will invest roughly ₹3,000 crore over the next two years to complete all remaining stalled housing projects. Every stuck homebuyer is set to get possession by September 2028. Suraksha Group Promoter Sudhir Valia was direct about the company's confidence in that timeline. "We are very confident that we will deliver all units in the scheduled time period," he said.

The Progress Made So Far

Suraksha Group took control of Jaypee Infratech in June 2024, following an NCLAT ruling that upheld its bid to acquire the bankrupt developer. In the two years since, the company has completed 84 of the 159 towers that were stalled at takeover, comprising 7,913 units. Of those, 5,000 units have already been handed over to homebuyers, with possession of the remaining roughly 3,000 pending. Valia said the company has invested approximately ₹1,500-2,000 crore so far, mostly on finishing work for apartments that were already substantially built.

Where the Remaining Money Is Coming From

Suraksha isn't relying on fresh external funding to cover the new ₹3,000 crore commitment. Valia laid out three internal sources instead: roughly ₹1,800-2,000 crore in receivables still owed by existing customers, about ₹500 crore a year in toll collection revenue from the Yamuna Expressway, which Jaypee Infratech continues to operate, and sales of the company's remaining unsold inventory, around 2,000 units with a potential sales value in the ₹2,500 crore range.

How This Lines Up Against the Earlier Commitment

This isn't the first time Jaypee Infratech has put a number on finishing these projects. In April 2025, then-CEO Abhijit Gohil said the company would invest around ₹6,000 crore over three years, targeting completion within 40 months of the August 2024 takeover, a timeline that points to roughly December 2027. The new figures, ₹3,000 crore more on top of the ₹1,500-2,000 crore already spent, land in a broadly similar ₹4,500-5,000 crore total range, with the completion deadline now stated as September 2028 rather than the earlier implied late-2027 date. Read together, this looks like a realistic update to a genuine, ongoing effort rather than either a broken promise or a sudden acceleration.

Beyond the Cleanup: New Townships on the Yamuna Expressway

Suraksha Group also used Monday's announcement to signal it's moving past crisis management. The company plans three new townships spanning more than 450 acres along the Yamuna Expressway, two residential developments and one industrial township. That's a notable shift in framing, from a company solely focused on delivering a decade-old backlog to one positioning itself as an active developer building fresh supply in the same corridor.

A Legacy Backlog Finally on a Concrete Timeline

For homebuyers who've waited years for possession, September 2028 is a specific, public commitment tied to demonstrated progress, 84 towers actually completed, not just promised, over the past two years. That track record gives this deadline more weight than the resolution-plan timelines that preceded Suraksha's takeover, though the remaining 75 towers and roughly two more years of construction still leave real execution risk between now and delivery.
